A Community Responsibility Idea Some Will Say Is 'Anti White Cops'

We can prevail by taking command of policing in our community and send its present overseers packing;

Imagine if Derek Chauvin, incarcerated former Minneapolis police officer had been Black when George Floyd died under his knee in 2020?

Rewinding back to the 1991 Rodney King beating in California, picture ex-LAPD officers involved also being members of my community?

This doesn't sound like 'anti White cop' talk to me

Add any number of White officer-involved shootings from 2014's Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and it begs the question: why not let Black areas be policed by Black police officers--period?

I'll wait.

My premise is two-fold:

A. Denying unfounded allegations of racial profiling and police brutality by solely deploying Black officers and supervisors. Unless one opposes policing no matter who does it, this change alone would change demands for police reform forever.

B. It places responsibility for fighting leftist-enabled crime where it belongs: on us. No avenging White Republican is going to swoop in and save us from violent traitors. It'll take ideologically independent Black citizens, advocates, safety groups and police officers separated from an outside ideology to rescue ourselves.

This doesn't sound like 'anti White cop' talk to me.

I'm simply looking at we who are closest to this problem as being those best positioned to solve it, not distant White Republicans in city halls, municipal councils, county executive committees, state committees, state and congressional caucuses, governor's mansions and presently, the White House.

Some will say it's racial separatism. Others may-correctly-conclude it's racial responsibility. I agree with the latter position.

The civil rights movement of my grandparents and parents generation didn't intend for violent traitors to be treated like diplomats.

We can't prevail when public safety policies are passed, repealed or revoked by battling partisans

I just think we must now pursue today's civil right of safety with the same evangelical zeal. Part of that evangelism would tell conservatives let's rewrite laws so that only Black police officers can exercise arrest authority and justified use of deadly force in their own community. Let's remove racism claims from the table by removing White officers from our areas. It robs the left of the group reliably used to undermine effective policing, which is the real progressive goal.

Then, outcry about profiling and brutality will be an internal conversation, as it should be. There won't be any outsiders wearing badges to accuse anymore.

This internal focus isn't against White police officers. In fact, it's the height of community responsibility. 'Black people with sense,' as I call our safety stakeholders, must separate ourselves from an outside ideology that destroys our safety with each passing generation.

Liberating Black police officers and executives from 'anti safety' guidelines will save more lives than continually having our community hit back and forth like a tennis ball. We can't prevail when public safety policies are passed, repealed or revoked by battling partisans.

We can prevail by taking command of policing in our community and send its present overseers packing.
