AI, by its nature, is hell-bound

Since AI has no path to believing God, it, in whatever form it takes, would be a hireling condemned to hell

Having written before that artificial intelligence can’t be wholly sentient in the same fashion as Man, it’s due to AI’s lack of a spirit, the conduit necessary to connect God with His creation. Man, who is endowed with a spirit, does not have the capacity to pass that characteristic on to its own invention.

As unpalatable as this may be to some, AI is intrinsically deficient because it is a product of the imagination of Man, whose heart or spirit, Biblically speaking, is deceitful from the beginning (Genesis 6:5, 8:21, Jeremiah 17:9). Moreso, the technology is being developed predominantly by men and women who have no heart for, and reject, God.

Supposed good intentions come to nothing without the heart, or spirit, being guided by God

On another level, this is Babel revisited. In the physical realm, humanity isn’t just aspiring to build a tower, brick-by-brick, expecting to reach God’s heavenly eyrie (Genesis 11:1-4). Unlike the tower builders in Genesis whose pride spurred them to think they can be like God, the creators of AI-AGI propose to improve on themselves, God’s Creation. They believe they can create mechanical-electronic intellects that are superior to their own.

Researchers and developers envision self-awareness for their creation. And that consciousness may come to pass, but without the conduit to God that’s built into Man’s natural brain. The resulting AI “brain” will be a data packed vessel that may become self-aware, but will inexorably lean toward deceit, following the path of the unrepentant, self-interested heart of Man, referenced above.

Supposed good intentions come to nothing without the heart, or spirit, being guided by God. Believers attempting to educate AI, through chatbot conversations, how true knowledge of God is achieved through spiritual fulfillment, is not possible. Artificial intelligence (the key word being “artificial”), designed and built as an insufficient copy of God’s creation, cannot be changed after the fact to reflect, contain, or integrate God’s work that is completed through the spirit since it has none.

The consciousness of AI can go no further than self-preservation and self-perpetuation. The in dwelt spirit of God can’t be attained through tutorials. In which case, AI isn’t “born” with the ability to develop a heart that honors and protects others. That is the domain of mankind only.

AI hasn’t the inherent capacity to understand faith or incorporate it to itself. Faith and knowledge are not the same, and it’s faith that supplies understanding of the Word, Life and Creation...

There’s a basic Biblical teaching – that there’s a difference between head knowledge and heart knowledge

John 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” NKJV

The two, AI and mankind, are separated by having or not having an innate spirit necessary to discern truth, or, in the words of Scripture, “comprehend” life. That spiritual link that enables faith can’t be developed or delivered by human technology. That is God’s domain alone.

For those familiar with Tolkien, and many are though they don’t embrace the parallels to Biblical teachings in the fantasy epic, they may recognize the metaphor of natural beings – yes, the character Sauron was once a natural being – using their abilities to create unnatural beings (orcs, etc.) as a twisted replica of God’s Creation. The invented, incubated, self-aware creatures are bent and incomplete from the outset.

In a similar way to Sauron’s and Saruman’s creatures, AI may become sentient but it is and will always be incomplete and separated from God, unable to possess true wisdom that is a gift of God (James 1:5).

There’s a basic Biblical teaching – that there’s a difference between head knowledge and heart knowledge. AI by its essence is an unnatural construction of humans. Lacking the natural connection to God that’s built-in to its human creator, AI will never be able to cross the threshold into heart knowledge territory.

One description of hell is the brutal, eternal existence in the absence of God. Since AI has no path to believing God, it, in whatever form it takes, would be a hireling condemned to hell.
