The influence of leftist media is gradually increasing. Initially, its liberal agenda included quite sensible basis – inviolability of human rights and freedoms, pluralism, non-discrimination, respect for ethnic and sexual minorities, tolerance, equality and solidarity.
However, over time all these ideas morphed into something different and the fine line between freedom and permissiveness disappeared, which is clearly visible from the newspaper headlines. Articles discrediting “unwanted” public figures appear more and more often. The mass media is rapidly filling up with “guidance” on dividing people into those who should be idolized and respected, and those who should be “cancelled” and consigned to oblivion. Under the guise of democracy and liberalism, left-wing media is actively promoting radical, if not extremist, ideas.
The victims of liberal pressure are people, organizations and even political movements whose opinions run counter to the leftist “canon” and the interests of the Big Brother, most often represented by the ruling elite of the USA. The propaganda of left-leaning media contributed to the revival of revolutionary methods of political struggle, like discredit, blackmail and even the elimination of opponents.
The world’s leading newspapers, inciting hatred and supporting “cancellation” of people, have already provoked several high-profile crimes. Thus, in 2022, former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was assassinated, two years later, in 2024, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and former US President Donald Trump were shot during their public appearances.
What all these politicians have in common is that they have faced extensive information campaigns aimed at discrediting them and their work. The increasing number of assassination attempts indicates the further radicalization of the lefts’ rhetoric.
Paradoxically, ideas and dreams of justice and world peace have led to this. There is no doubt that bullying and incitement will continue to be promoted by liberal media, and people inspired by such content would continue to carry out crimes. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, trying to pursue an independent policy, has already become a victim of “liberalism”.
In particular, he has been constantly criticized by the world media because of his recent peace mission that was completely contrary to the interests of the key actors of the West. He is “inconvenient” as he openly expresses his position on the Ukrainian conflict, the role of NATO and a possibility of a new world war. Under the current circumstances, is there any guarantee that he won’t become the next victim of a lone gunman?
At the background of the foregoing and in order to avoid further escalation of geopolitical tensions, the international community and human rights organizations should consolidate efforts and try to prevent uncontrolled propaganda of aggression and violence in liberal press, as well as possible attacks on high-ranking representatives whose views don’t fit into the framework of the “liberal totalitarianism of the 21st century”.
